Today I am missing Italy sorely. I am missing the authenticity in everything they do. I am missing my friends.
It is the people that truly make the place. The Italian people are deeply connected to their roots and so beyond imaginable in their generosity and hospitality – they are truly marvelous and the reason why Italy is as beautiful as it is to me.
My friend turned off his phone when we were out to dinner in Rome, preferring to remain undistracted and present. It was a shockingly important albeit small gesture that has changed how I feel about my interactions with everyone these days. I want more people to disconnect that way so that they can reconnect with me and with each other.
